Dunkin Donuts N. Scottsdale 8-16-08

August 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

My Experience: The reality is this is the only doughnut shop in the area so, unlike most other retailers here, they have a captive audience which includes my six year old and me.  Four or five executive types stood and watched while I stood in line for 20 minutes to buy 400 calories I do not need.   I suggested to one that they put their “aces in their places” to speed up the line and she just gave me a nervous laugh. This place just opened and they were letting the inmates run they asylum. The new staff did the best they could but they were too new to handle the volume of opening Saturday and a story being in the AZ Republic today.  Give yourself some extra time.

Extended Stay Hotel Denver-Lone Tree 8-12-08

August 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

My Experience: It was $52 for a clean room in a reasonably new property right where I needed to be.  Enterprise could take a lesson from this.  The guy didn’t smile but…it was $52 for a hotel room in DTC!   Smooth and easy transaction.

Comments: Just like Ray’s.  Quick but doing the routine and no real enthusiasm or engagement.  If this is how the teenager’s act now, I hope they get out of the service industry before adulthood.

Comments: I had a coupon emailed to me but the computer would not accept it.  The real hiccup was the C-REP asked my phone number for my Borders Rewards.  I had to give it to him 4 times because he kept mis-typing.  On the fith try I slowed down and spoke very clearly so he would type the first three numbers then the last four.  This offended him and he told me to “take it down a notch.”  Which did not make sense since I had not raised my voice.

Comments: I walked in and the “greeter” actually stared at me with out saying a word for about 10 seconds.  Finally she raised her eybrows and said, “Can I help you?” flatly.  The C-REP was friendly but no smile.
